Best Australian Natural Skincare Brands: A'kin

A’kin: One of the best Australian natural skincare brands is here

Apart from just looking for natural skincare alternatives, a lot of consumers (you guys) are also just looking for a simple ingredient list behind the stuff you put on your skin, and making sure it really works. That’s one of the reasons why we love A’kin so much and why we think it’s one of the best Australian natural skincare brands on the market. Oh, and they also make natural hair care too.

If you’re already a natural beauty aficionado, A’kin is definitely worth adding to your rotation. If you’re looking to take a leap into the natural skin care world, then we’re here to break it down for you and suggest a few products to help get you started too.

Overview:

  • The A'kin ethos
  • Which A'kin products should I try?

Who are A’kin and what is their ethos?

This homegrown journey started all the way in 1987 when botanical chemist, Will Evans, saw a gap in the market for effective natural beauty products. After launching their first brand successfully, Will then launched A’kin as a natural extension in 2002. The A'kin team is made up of botanical chemists who have helped pioneer advances in natural Australian skincare, so expect focus and passion in every product in their range.

As for their ethos, A’kin live and breathe a very simple philosophy: pure and authentic skincare, crafted without parabens, sulfates, artificial colours or fragrances. The skincare range harnesses the power of the botanical extracts and certified organic ingredients to nourish your skin from within and of course, enhance how it looks too. As they say, it’s just as nature intended.

Apart from this, the full range is also vegan and cruelty free, plus it’s free from nasties such as parabens, sulfates, ethoxylated cleansers, silicones, mineral oil, phthalates, DEA and artificial colours or fragrances. So there’s nothing to worry about in the ingredient list, just beautiful ingredients.

On top of that, they have also committed to reducing their carbon footprint and make every effort to minimise waste. This means no excess packaging where possible and recyclable containers. Looks like we’re going to have to add it to our list of environmentally friendly beauty brands too!

Skincare that actually works and does the work to help the environment too. This is why A’kin might just be the best Australian natural skincare brand.

Which A’kin products should I try?

A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil with Vitamin C

We’ve talked about the benefits of vitamin C for skin before and how it can really brighten your skin and target dullness. So when you add certified organic rosehip oil to the mix as well, it’s basically the perfect product. Antioxidant rich, hydrating and suitable for all skin types, it will help even out your skin and leave it looking brighter and fresher. You can also use it on your face and body to help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks!

All you need to do is massage 3-4 drops on clean skin - face, neck and decolletage, every day and you’ll see brighter skin in no time. Follow up with a good moisturiser to seal it all in. And that brings us to the next product...

A’kin Intense Hydration Day and Night Cream

If you have dehydrated skin, this cream is for you. Although with the chilly winter air and heater blasting, we could all use a little extra hydration. Luckily, this bestselling moisturiser is packed with certified organic shea butter, rosehip oil and powerful antioxidants that will help replenish, repair and intensely hydrate the skin. It also has vitamin E and provitamin A, which work together to help protect the skin from signs of ageing.

Massage into your face, neck and decolletage everyday, morning and night for a massive hydration boost and help with reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

A’kin Daily Shine Rosemary Shampoo

Using a potent blend of rosemary, cedarwood and certified organic lavender oil, the Daily Shine Shampoo will gently cleanse your hair and scalp, leaving it feeling freshly washed but not stripped of its natural shine. It actually helps enhance your hair’s natural shine too. This shampoo is also silicone-free so it’s curly hair friendly!

Don’t forget to pair it with the Daily Shine Avocado & Calendula Conditioner, which will smooth and rehydrate your hair thanks to the nourishing blend of certified organic avocado oil, jojoba oil, calendula and wheat protein. Then while you wait for your conditioner to work its magic, reach for the soothing Relaxing Lavender Body Wash - because you know that using body wash while conditioning is the unwritten shower rule.
